Sok Xing & Hwang Joins Cambodia's Delegation to Boost Ties with Hong Kong on Trade and Investment
As Cambodia pursues stronger socio-economic growth, in 2015 it adopted the Industrial Development Policy 2015 - 2025. The Policy identifies a diversity of growth opportunities that Cambodia can draw benefits from, among which is the China's Belt and road Initiative that is designed to promote economic cooperation among and beyond countries along the Silk road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, running through Cambodia.
Taking into account the strategic positioning of Hong Kong as the center for China’s Belt and Road Initiative as well as its expertise, experience, and success in international trade and investment, on 19 September 2016, Sok Xing & Hwang Directors Mr. Sok Lor and Ms. Xing Jiajia joined the delegation of the Royal Government of Cambodia on an official visit to Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) – a statutory body established in 1966 dedicated to promoting Hong Kong trade. The objective of the visit is to expand and deepen cooperation on business and investment.
At the meeting between the head of Cambodia’s delegation H.E. Dr. Pan Sorasak, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce, and Madame Margaret Fong, Executive Director of HKTDC, a number of key priorities were discussed and agreed. An important outcome of the meeting was a consensus to initiate a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia and HKTDC that will formalize the partnership between the two governmental institutions on promotion, research and capacity building in the realms of trade and investment.
