Sok Lor is Managing Director of Sok Xing & Hwang and a member of Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Currently, he is serving as VP of Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations. He holds an LL.M degree from Harvard Law School, USA and an LL.B from Royal University of Law and Economics, Cambodia. He is fluent in Khmer and English, and proficient in Chinese.
Mr. Sok has over 15 years of legal and executive experience in the private and public sectors. He is known for efficient and effective project management and technical skills, depth of industry knowledge, as well as extensive experience in facilitating foreign investments in Cambodia in both labor-intensive and capital-intensive industries. He has advised major corporations on multi-million US dollars M&A and other change of control transactions and government regulatory affairs. He has also extensively advised and represented corporations in the negotiation and resolution of disputes stemming from concession contracts. He previously advised the national Arbitration Council on legal determinations that set standards for labor rights and obligations in workplaces across the country.
Prior to founding Sok Xing & Hwang, Mr. Sok was executive director of Arbitration Council Foundation, where he designed and executed multi-million US dollar international development law and private-public partnership projects, including with the EU, USAID and World Bank. Mr. Sok is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Royal University of Law and Economics.
Jiajia Xing is a Senior Director of Sok Xing & Hwang and qualified to practice law in the People’s Republic of China. She holds dual LL.M degrees from New York University School of Law, USA and the Law Faculty of National University of Singapore, Singapore; and an LL.B from Peking University Law School, China. She is fluent in Chinese and English, and has attained intermediate proficiency in Korean.
Ms. Xing is a recognized leader in facilitating complex investments throughout the Greater Mekong Subregion, with unparalleled experience providing individualized legal services to Chinese-speaking clients. Her areas of expertise include foreign direct investments, project finance and secured transactions, joint ventures, M&A and other change of control transactions. Prior to co-founding Sok Xing & Hwang, Ms. Xing practiced at a major regional law firm. She was a senior advisor and project manager for the firm’s regional practice group on energy, mining and infrastructure and the banking and finance group for Cambodia. She also established the China Desk and led business developments and legal advisory services for all Chinese-speaking clients.
Hans Hwang is a Senior Director of Sok Xing & Hwang and a U.S. attorney in good standing. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He is fluent in English and proficient in Chinese and Khmer.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Hwang has advised corporations, governments, NGOs and international development agencies around the world. His legal experience ranges from private commercial matters to public interest law. He is an expert in labor and employment law and international labor standards, and has advised on the drafting of labor legislation and the design of national systems for labor dispute resolution in Asia and Africa. Mr. Hwang worked for over five years at the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York where he provided legal and governance advice in complex restructurings and distressed situations. Prior to co-founding Sok Xing & Hwang, he was senior legal and strategic advisor to Cambodia’s Arbitration Council. He has also served as consultant to the ADB, ILO and World Bank.
