Harnessing Law and Policy Expertise for Improved Social and Labor Standards
Commissioned by GIZ Office Phnom Penh, Sok Xing & Hwang participated as labor and employment law and policy expert to provide advice and guidance to participants during the organization’s the annual planning workshop for 2017. The workshop was organized on 08 – 09 December 2016 in Siem Reap to discuss achievements, challenges, opportunities and priorities for the year 2017 for the Social and Labor Standards in the Textile and Garment Sector project of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.
At the workshop, Ms. Sou Sorphea, attorney at law of Sok Xing & Hwang, led the discussion on the challenges and opportunities of the project that had been identified in the Rapid Assessment Report on Cambodia’s Labor Inspection System. An institutional needs assessment report on Cambodia’s labor inspection system, the document was produced by Sok Xing & Hwang earlier in the year for GIZ and the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.
