Sok Xing & Hwang to Join Cambodia's Delegation in Executive Breakfast Session on Travel Goods in Hong Kong, 19 September 2016
The Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong will run the Executive Breakfast Session on investing in travel goods manufacturing in Cambodia, to be held in Hong Kong on 19 September 2016. Directors of Sok Xing & Hwang, Mr. Sok Lor and Ms. Xing Jiajia, will join the Cambodia's delegation at the event to contribute to furthering the agenda and efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia to solicit new foreign direct investment (FDI) in travel goods manufacturing to the country. It is anticipated that any new FDI that occurs thanks to the program will further generate employment opportunities for Cambodian people.
Sok Xing & Hwang also has the pleasure and honor to provide our assistance to GMAC in organizing the executive event, where two ministers of Cambodia will address potential investors: H.E. Dr. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, and H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia - the agency of the Royal Government of Cambodia that is in charge of investment promotion.
In its recent decision, the United States Government has decided to remove tariffs on travel goods made in Cambodia under its Generalized System of Preferences. From 01 July 2016, travel goods exported from Cambodia to the United States – which were subject to from approximately 4% to 20% for tariffs in the past – are treated with zero duty, significantly boosting the exporters’ competitiveness and preferable access to the US$10 billion United States import market of travel goods. This is significant because it presents new exciting opportunities to invest in the travel goods sector in Cambodia.
