Private Sector Starts Discussing Amendments to Trade Union Law
The private sector has started to discuss proposed amendments to the Trade Union Law of 2016, with Mr. Sok Lor, Managing Director of Sok Xing & Hwang, stressing the importance of maintaining and improvement of the stability of industrial relations in Cambodia as the key for long-term socio-economic development of the country. Occurring in the realm of tripartite consultations involving Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, employer associations, and trade unions, the proposed amendments have centered on the regulatory requirements for formation and maintenance of trade unions and employer organizations, and the rights to represent members of trade unions and employer associations, including in particular the rights of minority trade unions and most representative status trade unions at enterprises.
