Businesses Provide Comments on Labor Dispute Resolution Draft Law
Subsequent to the introduction of the Trade Union Law in 2016, questions remain regarding how to further enhance the state of industrial relations and ease of doing business in Cambodia, where FDI is desired and warranted to support and sustain its economic growth.
To reach that goal, a draft law on procedures for labor dispute adjudication is being introduced by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training. On 04 September 2017 at Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Sok Xing & Hwang Managing Director Sok Lor, in his capacity as Secretary General of CAMFEBA, prepared and represented the private sector employers to provide input on the draft law in a three-party consultation workshop, organized by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and the International Labour Organization. While the draft law seeks further improvement on the existing labor dispute resolution system and processes, Mr. Sok Lor exhibits the argument that the draft requires major re-drafting and re-balancing of obligations that would otherwise impose onerous and excessive burden on businesses and investment in Cambodia.
